Producer Vamsi Karumanchi is making his Tollywood debut with the movie “Gam Gam Ganesha” starring Anand Devarakonda. He produced this film with his friend Kedar Selagamshetty under the banner of Hylife Entertainments. Directed by Uday Shetty, “Gam Gam Ganesha” is an action crime comedy movie slated for a grand theatrical release on the 31st of this month. In an interview, producer Vamsi Karumanchi discussed the film’s features and his experiences as a producer.
“Our roots are in Guntur. We moved to the US for work and business but returned to India during the lockdown. Due to travel restrictions, we couldn’t go back to the US. Since childhood, I’ve been a movie enthusiast and a fan of Balakrishna. Even in the US, we watched all Telugu movies, often surprising others with our enthusiasm in theaters. We initially planned to stay in the US for a few more years before returning to India to settle down and produce films. However, the lockdown altered our plans, and we started this film with Anand. Anand and Vijay are good friends of mine.”
“When director Uday Shetty narrated the story, Anand liked it. Initially, there was some doubt if Anand would take on such a role, but he found it refreshing and agreed. Anand plays a funky character that’s somewhat brash and daring. ‘Gam Gam Ganesha’ revolves around a Ganesh statue and money, blending action and comedy. We initially aimed to release it during Vinayaka Chavithi but postponed it due to industry strikes and Anand’s involvement in ‘Baby.’ We then planned a release for the 25th of this month but shifted to the 31st to avoid clashing with Dil Raju’s ‘Love Me.'”
“‘Gam Gam Ganesha’ is being distributed by Mythri Movie Distributors in Nizam and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainments in AP and Karnataka, with over 400 theaters secured. We believe it’s a substantial release. We also have an OTT deal with Amazon Prime.”
“Anand’s role in ‘Gam Gam Ganesha’ is unique and should not be compared to his role in ‘Baby,’ which is a love-emotional movie. In contrast, this film is a crime comedy action movie, with particularly impressive comedy. The situations involving friends getting into trouble generate a lot of laughter, with Jabardast Emmanuel delivering humor. Heroines Nayan Sarika and Pragathi Srivastava gave strong performances, with significant roles in the film. Following the success of ‘Baby,’ we believe this release will benefit us.”
“Directors often struggle to bring crime comedy genres to life as well as they narrate them, but Uday has executed ‘Gam Gam Ganesha’ excellently, even surpassing the narration. The budget was significant, but the quality is evident. Everyone in our circle who saw the movie praised it.”
“The film industry is complex compared to others. Though it may seem small, millions depend on it for their livelihood, and it contributes significantly to sectors like IT. Every business involves risk, and film production is no different. Achieving success requires taking risks.”
“We are thrilled that Rashmika will be the guest at the ‘Gam Gam Ganesha’ pre-release event. Kedar, who produced this film with me, is my friend. We are currently finalizing two more stories and plan to start filming them within the next two to three months. If I ever get the opportunity to work with my favorite actor Balakrishna, it would be a blessing. Several movies are releasing this week alongside ours, and we view this as healthy competition.”
