Balasubrahmanyam. The latest episode, airing exclusively on the aha OTT platform every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. onwards, promises a deeply touching tribute to the music maestro.
Anandan Sivamani, fondly known as ‘Drums Sivamani’, graced the stage of Telugu Indian Idol Season 3 as a guest judge and was moved to tears as he reminisced about SP
Balasubrahmanyam’s profound influence on his musical journey. The celebrated drummer, who began his career under the guidance of SP Balasubrahmanyam, expressed his sorrow over the maestro’s untimely demise on September 25, 2020, due to health complications related to COVID-19.
During the heartfelt episode, Sivamani will share and play the last voice note sent by SP Balasubramaniam, offering fans and viewers a rare glimpse into their enduring bond and his final words of wisdom.
Sivamani also shared how he remembered SP Balasubrahmanyam on Guru Purnima, which occurred on July 21, 2024. He broke down while sharing his memories, showing the deep emotional impact SPB had on him.
Telugu Indian Idol 3 judge S. Thaman also reminisced about his close bond with SP Balasubrahmanyam, recounting a cherished memory of his first flight at age 12 alongside the legendary singer. Thaman also opened up about the challenges he faced, including his father’s passing, and highlighted the unwavering support he received from Sivamani during those tough times.
Thaman said, “After my father’s passing, I’ve been focused on caring for my mother and sister but I never cried. Each October, Sivamani garu traditionally wears a Mala and visits Sabarimala, but he paused his pilgrimage to meet us during the tough times. Witnessing this deeply emotional gesture brought tears to my eyes.”
Sivamani was deeply impressed by contestant Keshav Ram’s performance on Telugu Indian Idol season 3, expressed his intention to recommend him to one and only AR Rahman. He said, “Whenever I come across a talented singer or musician, I promptly reach out to AR Rahman and recommend them. Just now, I’ve taken pictures of Keshav, and I’ll be sending them to him shortly.”
